Sparks of anticipation fill the air,
The auditorium filled with expectation...
Spine tingling moments.
Joyous memories come alive,
Music surrounds and fills
Every crevice pulsing.
The strings of Ricardo J Martins pulse,
The fingers alive.
Heart skipping a beat.
Magnetic vibrations alerted,
Sonorous feelings expressed.
Influenced by various musical genres Ricardo J, Martins who was born in Faro, Portugal on February 3rd, 1984 instantly knew the musical path that ultimately led to his extraordinary success after hearing Carlos Paredes songs.
This Master of Portuguese Guitar sees playing both the Lisbon and the Coimbra Guitar as a valuable expression to release the sound of dreaming through the power of his sacred talent.
Recording in 2014 his first instrumental Portuguese Guitar album titled “Ricardo J. Martins” gave Ricardo the vehicle to create adaptations of themes outside the musical environment of Portuguese Guitar and versions of typical songs with his own arrangements.
“Dancas na Eira” was lifted off the album as Ricardo J. Martins original theme and single record.
The artistry of this great musician sought new ways to lift the sound of his Portuguese Guitar to new heights, while keeping the standard of his roots to compose and play his successor album in 2017 titled “Cantos e Lamentos”. This work counts with several participations and instruments outside the Fado, as it is the case of the recorder, accordion, lyrical voice and percussions, including different musical experiences to give this work a unique personal stamp that goes from Traditional Portuguese music to classical music.
